Stitches and Techniques:

chain, single crochet, double crochet, treble crochet, slip stitch, drop single crochet, reverse single crochet (crab stitch), changing colors, increases and decreases. The glasses rest is worked in continuous rounds. Each 1st stitch of round is marked with a stitch marker. Rounds do not end in slip stitches - they are seamlessly continued into next round.

• 40 yards - Yarnbee Soft and Sleek Yarn, 100% acrylic, medium weight - 4, color Orange: 805 - Pumpkin Spice
• 40 yards - Yarnbee Soft and Sleek Yarn, 100% acrylic, medium weight - 4, color White: 100 - White
• 40 yards - Yarnbee Soft and Sleek Yarn, 100% acrylic, medium weight - 4, color Black: 1 - Black
• Crochet Hook Size 5.00 mm
• 2 stitch markers safety-pin style of bobby-pin style
• Tapestry needle for weaving in yarn tails and for making whiskers
• Two safety eyes with back closures
• One safety nose with back closures
• Optional: Three orange circle of felt 1 inch in diameter, glue gun, glues sticks for glueing felt to the back of the safety eyes and nose)

Round 1:

Sc in 2nd ch from hook (mark this st), sc in next 13 ch, 4 sc in last ch, continue working into unworked side of chains going in opposite direction, sc in next 13 ch, 3 sc in last ch, (do NOT sl st into 1st st of round here and throughout) continue to next round.

Round 2:

Sc in marked 1st st (mark this st), sc in next 14 sts, 2 sc in next 2 sts, sc in next 15 sts, 2 sc in next 2 sts, continue to next round.

Round 3:

Sc in marked 1st st (mark this st), sc in next 14 sts, 2 sc in next 4 sts, sc in next 15 sts, 2 sc in next 4 sts, continue to next round.

Round 4:

Note:

When you switch to White color, leave a long 2-yard tail, use this tail to work in Round 6. Then use the main line of White color to work in Round 7.

Round 5:

Sc in marked 1st st (mark this st), sc in next 15 sts, * (2 sc in next st, sc in next 2 sts) 3 times, 2 sc in next st ** , sc in next 17 sts, work from * to ** , sc in last st switching to White on last loop of this st, continue to next round.

Round 6:

In White color but carrying Orange through the first 15 sts and working with the long 2-yard tail, sc in marked 1st st (mark this st), sc in next st,drop sc 1 round below in next 2 sts, drop sc 2 rounds below in next 2 sts, drop sc 3 rounds below in next st, drop sc 4 rounds below in next st, drop sc 3 rounds below in next st, drop sc 2 rounds below in next 2 sts, drop sc 1 round below in next 2 sts, sc in next st, sc in next st, switch to Orange on the last loop of this sc, continue in Orange (do not carry White under stitches), sc in each st around, changing to White main line of yarn on the last st of round.

Round 7:

Using main line of White, sc in marked 1st st (mark this st), sc in next 19 sts, * count out 7 sts and mark 8th st to work into it after drop sts, drop sc 1 round below in next st, drop sc 2 rounds below in next st, drop sc 3 rounds below in next st, drop sc 4 rounds below in next st, drop sc 3 rounds below in next st, drop sc 2 rounds below in next st, drop sc 1 round below in next st ** , starting with the marked st, sc in next 25 sts, repeat from * to ** , sc in remaining 4 sts, continue to next round.

Round 8:

Continue in White, sc in marked 1st st (mark this st), sc in next 16 sts, sc2tog, sc in next 8 sts, sc2tog, sc in next 19 sts, sc2tog, sc in next 8 sts, sc2tog, sc in next 2 sts, ss to marked st, continue to Round 9 (optional) or finish off.
(Total 58 sts: 54 sc, 4 decreases)

Round 9 (Optional):

In White, ss to marked st, then, going in opposite direction and starting with last st of round, reverse sc in every st around except the marked st, ss into 1st st of Round 9. Finish off. Weave in the ends.

Ears (Make 2):

Row 1:

In White color, ch 3. Tighten the slip knot, do not work into slip knot, (2 dc , trc, ch 2, sl st in top of trc, trc, 3 dc) in 1st ch from beginning. Finish off. Leave 10 inches for sewing and weaving in ends.

Row 2:

In Orange color, working backwards on RS, starting with last st of Row 1, crab st in top of 3 dc sts, crab st in top of trc, 2 crab sts in 2-ch-space, crab st in top of trc, crab st in top of 2 dc sts, crab st in top of beginning ch of Row 1, ss in 2nd ch from the beginning. Finish off. Weave in ends.

Finishing:

1. Sew in ears using 10-inch tail of White yarn from each ear. Sew into the wrong side of Round 8.
2. Attach safety eyes and nose (location on stitch chart is marked with blue crosses).
3. Embroider whiskers or tie knots on the right side of work and fluff the strands of yarn.
4. Optional: Cut out 1-inch felt circles to cover safety eyes and nose on the wrong side of work. Glue the felt circles using a glue gun and glue stick. https://youtu.be/rxadTPnXUHA
