STEM AND TASSEL
Continue from Leaf or Stem Base. Ch 20-30. Chain 1 large plastic bead. Fold yarn and tie a tassel. Finish off.
This video tutorial shows how to make stem and tassel using a large plastic bead:
This video tutorial uses no bead. If you have no plastic beads but still would like to make a tassel - this is the one to watch:
STEM BASE
(part that connects the flower to the stem)
NOTE: Made in continuous rounds.
Leave a 3 foot tail before beginning with Magic ring (marked on a chart with a larger circle in the middle).
Round 1: ch 1, 4 sc in to magic ring (mark 1st sc with stitch marker), do not ss, continue to next round. Pull the 3-foot tail to close the magic ring.
Round 2: marking 1st st of this round, 2 sc in next 2 sts, continue to next round.
Round 3: marking 1st st of this round, (2 sc in next st, sc in next st) 4 times, ss into 1st st of this round if you are fininshing, do not make ss if you are proceeding to Round 4.
Round 4(optional): I make Round 4 only for Roses, for buds I make only three rounds, marking 1st st of this round, (2sc in next st, sc in next st, sc in next st) 4 times, ss into 1 st st of this round.
Finish off. Leave 12 inch tail to attach the pistil to the flower. Using 12-inch yarn tail and a yarn needle, sew a flower or a bud onto the pistil.
Use the 3-foot tail to create a STEM: ch 20-30, chain 1 plastic bead. Fold yarn and tie a tassel (see video STEM AND TASSEL).
ASSEMBLY
Make the quantities of flowers, buds and leaves that you desires for your project. Then hug them with a piece of yarn, or cute pin and attach to a desired object. If you feel like your yarn creations are a bit twisted and rougher than you like, use a steamer or steam them with the steam from an iron, holding the iron at least 1 inch away from the yarn. Don't "kill" the yarn by touching it with the hot iron.
